An underwater scooter is a versatile vehicle that can be used for both recreational and technical/professional purposes, depending on the characteristics of the model: generally speaking, the most important features to take into account are running time, cruising speed and the maximum depth that can be reached: DPVs that offer top performance in these areas can even be used for long-range dives and cave dives.

As for any underwater equipment, it is necessary to learn how to use the underwater scooter correctly: however, the technology is intuitive, and a few lessons are sufficient to master it and acquire the knowledge required to handle any critical issues during dives.

Once you’ve learned how to use a DPV correctly, an underwater scooter significantly improves diving safety levels.

Because the diver is not subjected to physical exertion, this reduces to zero the so-called “bottom effort” that causes decompression sickness, and gas consumption diminishes, conserving more over the same distance and therefore maintaining a greater reserve for use in an emergency.

In addition, the underwater electric propulsion system makes it possible to effectively combat the water current, so that the diver is not overwhelmed by it, and making it easier to maintain the desired route.

An eye on the environment

Even when using a DPV, the scuba diver remains a discreet presence in the underwater environment: the electrical power supply prevents pollution and makes the motor very quiet, so as not to disturb the delicate aquatic ecosystem.

These characteristics make it possible to use underwater scooters even in nature reserves, enjoying all the benefits illustrated above, while maintaining maximum levels of ecosustainability.
